Yamaha DS-XG Windows Driver
Yamaha Consumer Electronics, Inc. no longer supports YMF724, YMF740, YMF744, and YMF754
PCI soundcards. So drivers for the newer Windows Operating Systems don't exist.
Most forum solutions are to throw away the old card and buy a one that
supports your newer OS, or worse yet fake drivers riddled with SpyWare and Viruses.
We needed the driver for one of our customers and discovered this driver
solution. We tested it on the client's old Micron Client Pro 350 systems running
Windows Server 2003 and it works! We cleaned the solution up and
re-packaged it for distribution. It's even reported to work on Windows 7
but, we have no direct experience in this configuration.
Follow this procedure to install:
- Open the device manager.
- Right click on the Yamaha device and select update driver.
- At Connect to Windows Update? Select "No, not this time." Next.
- Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" Next.
- Clear "Search removable media". Check "Include this location in the search."
Browse to the folder where you installed the driver. Next.
- If during install the system says it can't find files, browse back to the folder where you installed the driver to find them.
- If the system complains about untested Windows Logo drivers, press "Continue Anyway."
- Finish the installation and reboot.
The Yamaha sound card should now be operational.
